The Chamber of Commerce represents the Municipality of Barrington and the Town of Clark's Harbour located in the western end of Shelburne County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The area was settled mainly by Planters starting in 1763 and later by Loyalists in 1783. There has existed strong ties to the New England states in the USA as many residents have family there.
Since 1763 the economy has been tied to the sea. Ground fish and lobster have provided a livelihood for the area. The area has the distinction as the
"Lobster Capital of Canada".
Barrington Passage has evolved as the business and commerical center of the area and you will find banks, post office, national grocery chains, hardware and building center , restraunts, vehicle dealerships, gas stations and many other services. The area also has many recreational facilities such as an arena, curling rink, ball fields, gyms, tennis court as well as many other sports facilities.
